On Thursday, July 12, 2001, at our annual spouses night, we held the official District Governor's Meeting with District Governor Carol Walsh.
She installed the new president, Stellard T. Beightol, Jr. for 2001-2002.
Immediate past president, Fr. D. Timothy Grimme was awarded the past president pin. Three new members were inducted. A nine year perfect attendance and a twenty-nine year perfect attance pin were presented.
IN MEMORIUM: Sadly we express our farewells to Donald Thrush, David Woodring and Stellard Beightol,Sr. who passed away during the past Rotary year.
The District Governor spoke to us on receiving the gift of Rotary and being willing to give the same gift to others.
She reminded us that sustaining member of the Rotary Foundation can cost as little at $2.00 a week.
Remember the Second Annual Agricultural Peace Summit at the Nittany Lion Inn on August 13, 14, and 15 2001. Rotary International President, Richard King will be present.
Remember, there will be a talk on Thursday, July 19, from a director of the Eden Program at Centre Crest Nursing Home.
On July 26, Pleasant Gap Rotary will take part in the Fireman's Carnival.
LAST YEAR:
We will sponsired Sebastian Valle, an exchange student from Ecuador.
LAURA KOWALCYK and MARCE PANICO who went as Group Study Exchange members to JAPAN.
Launa and Marce regaled us for over 30 minutes with an overhead project tour of their time in Japan.
Everything from McDonald's to Hiroshema, Shinto temples to Rotary meetings, it was most enjoyable and enlightening.
Thank you Launa and Marce.
- Major events included a Senior Citizens of Pleasant Gap Christmas Party on Thursday evening, December 14, 2000, hosting nearly 300 area seniors to a ham and turkey dinner, live entertainment and hundreds of door prizes.
- One big activity each year is our club's participation in the Centre County Grange Fair in Centre Hall at the end of the summer. At the Rotary booth, tickets for "Big Blue" are on sale, while one of the 4-H steer is on display.
- Club meetings have hosted visitors from Kazakhstan; and Group Study Exchange members from Japan, treating them to an American barbeque and housing one of the members of the G.S.E. team.

We publicized on the Internet.
- Our Chicken and Waffle Dinner was a sell out success. With Lunch from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM and Dinner from 4:00 PM until 7:30 PM.
